The Last Forbidden Kingdom

Upper Mustang

Trip Overview

The Last Forbidden Kingdom

Upper Mustang 14 –18 days

All mountain/Enduro

The kingdom of Lo (Which is Tibetan for “South of Tibet”), a land that falls in the rain shadow behind Mt. Nilgiri and Mt. Dhaulagiri mountain ranges and is linked to the Tibetan Plateau. Lo only opened up to tourism in 1992, hence earning the name “Then Forbidden Kingdom”. A land rich with ancient Tibetan culture, Wiley Nomads, yaks and herds of mountain goats (Chyangra). A place where the bow and arrow are common weapons and the sturdy mountain pony is the standard transport. A place where the king still sits on a throne in a walled city that is hemmed by snowcapped mountains… But to Himalayan Dirt, the forbidden kingdom is a heaven crisscrossed with some of the best, the most remote, the most extreme and the purest fun mountain bike trails in the world!

The ride consists of a mix of jeep tracks, challenging climbs that traverse from 3000m to 4300m, hike a biking section over mountain passes, huge canyons and single track descents that will blow your mind. But it’s not just the riding that will leave you in awe, it’s the ancient monasteries, the rows of Chhortens, prayer flags and the stunning landscapes…

This is Enduro at its most epic!
