Trip Overview

Kathmandu, a capital and a hocus-pocus city, but just outside the valley has been calm and still and most importantly, our hills around the valley is gifted with the natural epic trails.

Riding through the jewels around the Kathmandu valley in every direction, which consists some of the finest raw single trails around the valley. We will take you to ride on the famous trails in the Shivapuri National Park such as Scar route, Heavens trail, Helipad, Chisapani from North to Lakuri, Phulchoki on south and super trails of Nagarkot on east to Bhatte Danda, Chitlang on the west.

This trip is carefully designed for the people who have relatively short time in Kathmandu, but wish to ride the awesome trails. Ideal for 3-4 day power-packed ride. We will have a private shuttle to lift us on most of the sections of this trip to avoid some of the longer climbs.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival at Trivuwan International Airport, Kathmandu. Meet the guide and transfer to hotel, build the bike and briefing about the trip on a welcome dinner.
  • Day 2: Ultimate North – Shivapuri National ParkPack the bags, load up the bikes on a private shuttle, we are heading north towards Kakani. Shivapuri National Park. We will ride some of the best trails around the valley Scar Route, Heaven’s trail, Helipad… Tonight we stay at Chisapani.
  • Day 3: Nagarkot Nagarkot is well known for the closest getaway from the valley and the view of the mountains. The trails here are diverse and epic, recently Nepal hosted an Asian Enduro Series in Nagarkot.
  • Day 4: Lakuri Bhanjyang and Phulchoki Lakuri Bhanjyang a well-known place for most of the local riders is famous for its uphill climb (but no need to worry, we have the shuttle, unless you want to pedal), the rewards on descend is some of the most epic trails. Phulchoki is the highest point in the Kathmandu valley, today we ride back to Kathmandu.
  • Day 5: Short ride around the trails of southwest, some epic downhill to single tracks around the paddy fields.

Evening flight back home, or stay for a night in Kathmandu, perhaps a last day hang out at the live music venue.

This is a general outline; there are several different ways to explore this trip and it can also be tailored as per client preferences. However, if there are any kinds of changes to the itinerary needed during the trip, possibly due to bad weather, change in terrain conditions due to Natural Disaster Himalayan Dirt reserves the rights to do the alteration to make it convenient and safety for our clients and crew.

FAQ

What bike should I bring for this trip, if I cannot bring my own bike, is it possible for rental?

An All Mountain or Enduro full suspension bike, fork travel from 140-150/160 would be ideal and lots of fun to play, but a good Hard-tail even with a 100mm-120mm fork can always do a job.

If you are planning not to bring along your own bike on this trip, we can arrange you a suitable bike for rental. The price may vary upon the quality and nature of a bike; please write to us for price and details. However, we always encourage you to bring your own bike.

 

What kind of accommodation would it be during the trip? Wi-fi?

Comfortable hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara and well-located comfortable guest houses/lodges on trails in the mountains, with hot shower and private bathroom. All the hotels and guest house/lodges have Wi-fi, even in the mountains. Wi-fi is often free for hotel guests in most of the places.

 

Dietary Gluten/Allergy issues

International food/cuisine will be served along with local delicacies in various restaurants & bars in Kathmandu and Pokhara, perhaps just a little less choices in the mountains. Please, let us know that if you have any kind of diet request or you are allergic to certain things. We will try our best to facilitate such kind of requests.

 

Altitude and Acclimatize

On this trip, we will ride from the low land Besisahar800m to the highest point Mesokanto La5121m in the Annapurna Circuit. This Itinerary is designed to adapt for easy acclimatization, so our clients won’t have issues to deal with AMS (Acute mountain sickness) on this tour.

 

Things to put on your backpack for daily rides

10lt, 12lt or even 16lt backpack is suitable for this trip.

  • Wind/water proof Jacket
  • One extra cycle jersey or sweatshirt
  • Sunscreen lotion
  • Some power bars and energy drink
  • Sun glass and buff
  • Camel Bag or water bottle for hydration?
  • Knee pad is recommended
  • Mobile phone/camera and some cash…

 

Safety Insurance

Mountain biking is an adventure sport where risk and hazard may happens in no time. We carry the first aid kit with us and do the basic first aid.

A sufficient medical travel insurance is mandatory and must arrange prior the trip from the country of origin. Your insurance should be able to cover all the medical expenses, including Emergency Helicopter Evacuation, if unwanted incidents occurs.

You are on your holiday and so we’d like you to have fun as much as possible and in the same time we would like you to spend a trouble free holiday while mountain biking in Nepal.

Alcohols are not permitted to consume during the ride. Beers? After ride…
